    Hello everybody, my name is Andrey.

    Garen undertook many changes and surely opened a lot of building possibilities.

    This is my take on several Garen builds.

    Ready? ok? Here we go!

  • Abilities

    This is one of the greatest passives. I mean, it's so heavily underrated but it's actually one of the best.
    The regeneration bonus is great. You can go to the other line with no health and arrive there with full and help the teammate.

    Decisive Strike
    It has a great AD ratio on it. It's our burst against all the squishes. Try to put it on Ez and see him cry.

    This is game changing spell. If maxed early gives an incredible boost in armor and MR. You can initiate team fights easily and if you are good enough to predict enemies burst dmg, you can come out unscratched.
    Learn the timing.

    This spell puts a lot of pressure on the other team. Nobody wants to stand in that shit and take it like a bitch, so the first reaction is running away. Use this to your advantage.

    Demacian Justice
    Finishing move.
    This is actually the hardest to pull off. You know why?
    Because you should know the difference between finishing your opponent and stealing others kill.
    This is very important.

  • AD vs TANK

    So you chose Garen. But how to play him?
    Garen is flexible, try to adapt to your team. Based on the picks on the champion select screen, you can change your build.
    Both AD and tank are viable, let's look at pros and cons.

    +High burst(Q) and sustained(E) DMG
    +Good chaser
    +A real threat to enemy squishes.
    -Very reliable on itemization. 1 wrong item and you suddenly suck.
    -Initiation power is lacking.
    -You have to put enough threat so they will fear you, if they are not, they'll just turn around and blast yo ass.
    -Not a very good oracle holder.

    +Great initiation
    +Meatball, can intercept skill shots for your squishes.
    +With W pretty much invincible.
    +Take oracles on him and observe they shit themselves trying to take on you.
    +Dive turrets like a boss
    -Not enough sustained dmg
    -Can be ignored all together if you posses no threat.

  • Masteries

    -Take [mastery=deadliness]
    -Take [mastery=cripple]
    -Take Brute Force

    Summoner spells
    Ghost - chasing, diving and pretty much everything else.
    Exhaust - for 1/1 fights or to disable their carry.
    Any other spell combination for AD garen is invalid.
    DO NOT take Flash you don't have anything compatible with this pile of garbage.


    1. Standard AD setup.
    It's useful for any AD champ. Safe setup.
    Greater Mark of Desolation
    Greater Seal of Evasion
    Greater Glyph of Focus
    Greater Quintessence of Fortitude or Greater Quintessence of Swiftness

    2. Pure AD setup.
    Considering your Q ratios this will be like hitting a squirrel with a fucking nuts. Try it out. It's risky, but it pays out.
    Greater Mark of Strength
    Greater Seal of Strength
    Greater Glyph of Strength
    Greater Quintessence of Strength


    Core items:
    Boots of Swiftness + Youmuu's Ghostblade
    Decisive Strike + Youmuu's Ghostblade + Ghost + Boots of Swiftness + Greater Quintessence of Swiftness will give you speed to catch virtually anyone. With this much speed to can plow through teamfight to get to squishes in no time.

    Possible items:
    Infinity Edge - very expensive, but very effective. Be aware, that you shouldn't rush it.
    Sword of the Occult - well, if you are doing good, this obviously is a good choice. Yeah, try adding to your overall speed additional 15%. Let's see what they say now.
    Hexdrinker - Early game item VS mages. Sell this shit when in late game.
    Last Whisper - Armor penetration. Works wonders if you seem to not do enough dmg.

    -Use your Q on mages mostly. They hate silence.
    -Your ult is a finishing move. Pull it off when enemy is about to escape to turret.
    -Only tower dive if you have ghost.
    -Max E for sustained or Q for burst, whatever you need most at the moment.
    -Your Q bonus DMG applies to turrets.
    -Sometimes you must use hit n run tactic.
    -Protect your mates with your body and W if needed.

  • Tank


    -Take Resistance, Hardiness
    -Take [mastery=Veteran's scars]
    -DO NOT take [mastery=ardor]

    Summoner spells
    Ghost - chasing, diving and pretty much everything else.
    Cleanse - Somewhat useful. It's frustrating to charge into fight only to find yourself standing in place.
    Exhaust or Ignite


    1. Standard tank setup
    It's useful for any tank champ. Safe setup.
    Greater Mark of Resilience
    Greater Seal of Evasion
    Greater Glyph of Warding
    Greater Quintessence of Fortitude or Greater Quintessence of Evasion


    Core items:
    Mercury's Treads + Sunfire Cape
    Still a great combination. Tanking, tower diving it's all good.

    Possible items:
    Randuin's Omen - Another armor item with great active. Good for chasing, escaping and obviously using in team fights.
    Spirit Visage - Early item for lane power. Sell it when in a late game.
    [item=Force of Nature] - Regenerate your sorry ass back to full health in no time. DO NOT RUSH IT.
    Aegis of the Legion - Good item. Get it, if no one else is getting it.

    DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT BUILD Guardian Angel
    They will just ignore you. You want them to attack you.

    -Check bushes like a boss.
    -Initiate all fights.
    -Try to stand between enemy and your squishes blocking all skill shots.
    -Predict burst dmg.
    -Max W first for outstanding effects.

    Sion - 1.5 first lvl stun. That's enough for you to know what he is the greatest laning buddy.

  • Ultimate usage

    Ok. Goddamn, it's time to learn how to use our ultimate.

    When TO use it:
    -Target is clearly escaping and you are the only one who can stop it.
    -On tanks when they are half-healthed. That will make them run away leaving squishes to chew upon.
    -When tower diving.
    -When dying.
    -When saving a teammate to possible scare them.

    When NOT to use it.
    -In an unfair battles, where you dominate. 3vs1, 4vs2, 5vs3.
    -On a squishy. It does not work like this.
    -On a person who is clearly about to die.
    -In the beginning of the fight.
