  • Introduction

    This guide focuses on a Sion built upon pure AP. The AP way of Sion is a whole lot more fun to play compared to the massive HP soak/tank-style of play you will find in a lot of the guides around here, at least in my opinion.

  • Abilities

    [spell=Feel No Pain]
    Usefull, but probably not the best Passive ingame.


    [spell=Cryptic Gaze]
    Huge single target stun, this skill will often be the key to your fights, whether they are advancing ones or fleeing. The combo of this skill and Death's Caress is what really kills those enemy champions.


    [spell=Death's Caress]
    Pretty much the bread and butter much like Cryptic Gaze, can be used for offense of simlply shielding yourself from incoming damage. You can release the bomb after 4 seconds of keep it going whichever is more useful to you.


    [spell=Enrage]
    A solid HP boost is always nice. This ability is the reason why we can put all out efforts into building up AP instead of focusing on surviving and the extra melee damage is great aswell.


    [spell=Cannibalism]
    Probably the least useful, but its great for dropping towers, helping you kill Neutral monsters easier and an extra ability to benefit from Lich Bane/Sheen which both are key items in different phases of the game.


  • Masteries + Runes

    Since I haven't been playing around too much with the runes there is no guarantee that the ones im using are the best, but ill post 'em anyway.

    Greater Seal of Replenishment
    Greater Mark of Insight
    Greater Glyph of Potency
    Greater Quintessence of Potency

    Which is the setup im using for all my caster type classes anyway, so it would make sense to build a tree like this either way.

  • Items

    The order of which i pick my items is fairly the same every game which includes 3 core items and a pair of boots.

    First start of building:
    Sheen
    i Prefer to go out blazing with the extra mana from Sapphire Crystal and 2x health potions, which makes way for a bit more offensive play and less towerhugging due to the lack of health.

    When you are done start picking up a set of boots, this is depending on your style of play and the opposing team's setup.

    Sorcerer's Shoes
    is my usual pick which gives some penetration which is always needed.

    Mercury's Treads
    vs teams with heavy CC, or a team with Galio.

    Boots of Swiftness
    when your ontop of your game and all you really want to do is to pop out of bushes as fast as possible to land a stun.

    Even if the game isn't going your way yet.... thats all about to change.

    Upgrade your Sheen into a Lich Bane
    At this point the real fun begins. Make sure you use your abilities well timed with this to maximize your damage.

    The fun gets hilarious with a [item=Zhonya's Ring] on your finger. Make Sure to use your active when you find yourself in Tony Rouble's house. You can easily initiate on a squishy champion, kill it, activate the ring, while your CD's get back up and then move on killing your next target.


    Thats the end of the Core.


    by the time you have acquired these items a Guardian Angel comes in handy, just to stretch out the combo-spree your on: Initiate squishy, Kill, Activate Ring, Kill next target, Die, resurrect, and finish off the rest, and the combined armor and magic resist to top that of with.

    to add some better chasing capability Hextech Gunblade helps out to catch a retreating champion.

    and ofc Haunting Guise will be needed in case u cant pick the penetration boots. I'd eaven consider swaping out Mejai's Soulstealer for this. By the end of the Game ur gonna want to sell this for an Void Staff or Abyssal Scepter Depending on whichever gives u the most, flat penetration is almost always better but if the most of the enemy team exceeds 150-180 MR u should go for the percentage based ones, or eaven pick both.

    if for some reason the game hasn't ended yet i usually keep the 6th spot open for flasks, but feel free to add whatever you might find useful in this slot, by te end of the game.

  • Skilling Order

    Since this build focuses on building up nasty combos with Cryptic Gaze and Death's Caress. i suggest you start out getting rank 1 of Cryptic Gaze, which is all you will ever need.
    Then start maxing out your Death's Caress and putting the spare Pts into Enrage and Cannibalism and then go back to filling up Cryptic Gaze when there is nothing else.

  • Summoner Abilities

    On a 5v5 map i use Ghost and Ignite
    Ignite is mainly used early game to get your snowball rolling.
    I would swap it out for Exhaust(Teemo, Twitch, Olaf etc) or Cleanse(Taric, Fiddle, Anvia etc) if u'r up against a team with heavy CC.



    other viable Summoner abilities are:

    Cleanse
    Teleport
    Teleport for the reason that you tend to go OOM quite fast, and earn gold for new items pretty fast aswell. This spell will save you a lot of time. It can also be used in a Twisted Fate kind of way, where you have one of your enemies close to a mob, Put up your [spell=Death's Caress] and teleport to it, toss on a [spell=Cryptic Gaze] and kill em.

    Exhaust
    Clairvoyance

  • Pros / Cons

    Pro's
    A HEAVY nuke, that easily kills any non-tank target.

    Con's
    Spell-shields (Morgana, Sivir, Annie, Banshee's Veil etc.) shuts down the combo, friendly champions like Ashe, Ryze, Fiddle etc. can help remove some of 'em for you.

    Weak vs Long Durations Stuns and Immobilizes (Morgana, Malzahar etc),Mercury's Threads or Cleanse Can solve this for you.

    Has a lower overall dmg output in a fight which makes it harder to bring down a heavy tank/soak.

  • Lane Setups

    I perfer laning with champions that has alot of utility, perferably a tank or a caster CC. Like Rammus or Morgana are good lane-mates. The fact that some of these champions are able to lane 2v1 gives you time and space to wander of and gank other lanes.

    If you are facing champions with these types of abilities, especially Morgana, keep track of their cooldowns so you know when to nuke and when to dodge 'em.

    Sololaning is an option, especially against really squishy champions like Tristana, Zilean, Ezreal etc. These types of heroes will get you some easy kills early on.

    Basicly the mindset you should play with(up to lvl 10) is that you should kill/assist one kill per level and spend the rest of the time building your HP through Enrage.
