Hey everybody, this is pLoory.
I'm doing my very first guide on Talon! I know the champ is quite new so I will be showing a couple of different builds and await your comments :)
Have fun and please rate and comment!
PS: please don't be bothered by my english...it's just a foreign language to me!
This is a picture of my latest matches, just to prove u that this build really works (WELL!)
Mercy 10%...well not too bad, as it will be active a lot depending on your team and how fast you get Frozen Mallet. Noxian Diplomacy Nice nuke, triggers Sheen/TriForce and reveals enemies for a short second no matter where they go. Rake Talon's Bread and Butter Skill! Wicked range for a melee, quite good damage and best lasthitting ability. MAX 1st! Cutthroat 1-point-wonder! take a point at lvl 3 and leave it like that. Used mainly as gap-closer! Shadow Assault This is what makes you an assasine! Very good damage, nice stealth ability. Choose to use it as a squishy nook or in teamfights to damage all enemys around or simply to walk out safely after burning down 1 or 2 people.
Quick Reference [ALT+Tab]
9x Greater Mark of Desolation
9x Greater Seal of Resilience
9x Greater Glyph of Shielding
3x Greater Quintessence of Fortitude
Flash and Exhaust
"R" > "W" > "Q" > "E"
Item Core Build:
Frozen Mallet [or Trinity Force]
- defensive = Guardian Angel or Banshee's Veil/ Quicksilver Sash
- offensive = Infinity Edge or The Bloodthirster
Pro's & Con's
- great nuke abilites
- AD stealth carry
- low cooldowns (especially Ulti)
- nice harassment tools
- W makes you lasthit easily
- E is great to follow up fleeing targets
- squishy champ
- no escaping tool except ulti
- not easy to master, as he is new and unknown yet
- has to get to mid-/lategame to show his real strengh
I choose Flash and Exhaust as I like to go with 2 summoner's that can be offensive as well as definsive. If you find yourself being ganked you can use exhaust to eliminate the main threat [which you cannot while using ignite], but also can use it to set up a kill.
Flash is self-explaning. I love it, simply use it to tower dive and net this 10% kill and flash out or get off the 3man gank with a nice over the wall flash.
Though I have to admit that getting Ignite isn't that bad idea. Your "E" spell increases ALL YOUR damage by 15% at max lvl. INCLUDING ignite!
As your first main item will be Wriggle's Lantern you should either start with:
- Cloth Armor and 5* Health Potion [great substainability in lane with 5 potions]
- Long Sword and 5* Health Potion [nice for harder harassment and makes last-hitting easier]
- you caaan also start with a Vampiric Scepter but I don't recommend this because you should always be last-hitting instead of constandly hitting creeps
- last you could start with a Doran's Blade but it will delay your core build
- or with a Doran's Shield, which improves early game lane sustainability
Next build your items into your first core: Wriggle's Lantern!
here we go, now you have an AD's best friend:
- AD, a bit of armor, lifesteal and ofc 20% of 500 dmg to minions = GREAT, helps u get lizard instandly!
Next one should be improved boots:
- either pick Berserker's Greaves [helps you increase Dmg-Output and AS ofc]
- Mercury's Treads if the enemy's biggest threat is an AP champ or more than 1 disabler.
Right now you have a fair amount of AD/AS but you want to improve it and the best item on my opinion to melee DPS champs is gonna be: Youmuu's Ghostblade [starting with either The Brutalizer or if you have problems lasthitting get the gold/5s item Avarice Blade first]
Now you have to decide whether to get Frozen Mallet or Trinity Force, you need one either to get the slow component to trigger you passive. On the one hand Frozen Mallet gets you a bunch of Health as well and you slow with EVERY hit, on the other hand Trinity Force synergizes espacially with your "Q" spell for an extra 150% Dmg with your next hit [also improves shutting down turrets]. It's very situational what to get, but you have to get one of those items as I said!
Thx to Feza127 I'd also recommend getting an Atma's Impaler right after Frozen Mallet to push your survivability a bit and same time getting a bit of crit chance.
Next you want to think of getting a defensive item, depending on your enemy team composition. If your enemies are mainly AD Champs, consider getting a Guardian Angel or even a Thornmail. If it's mainly AP mage champs get a Banshee's Veil or if you have to face stunners and other disablers get a Quicksilver Sash [very underestimated item].
If the game has not ended by now you should increase your Damage by getting an Infinity Edge or The Bloodthirster, if you think you have enough lifesteal or a healer in your back get IE otherwise take the benefit from BT's lifesteal component.
Jungle?! rather not...
I love playing junglers and as I saw Talon coming into the League I loved the thought on him playing as a jungler. He has such a great ganking potential but his jungle really su**s :(
Infortunately you need at least Wriggle's Lantern to sucsessfully survive and stay in jungle, but I wouldn't consider him as a full jungler. Maybe...and I really hope he get's a buff on that soon so you can use his full potential to do jungle ganks and benefit from his "E" gap closer.

Working in a Team
You are an assassin! Meaning you have to counter-carry their team and eliminate their biggest threat as soon and quick as possible. Wait until your tank initiates and decide whether to start with Shadow Assault on their carry or with a combination of Noxian Diplomacy and Cutthroat and leave your ulti to finish him off or to get away because I can almost guarantee that you will be main-focused as soon as you will pop on one of there squishys.
Early game of cause get as much farm as you can, don't push and just get those last-hits with either autoattacks or after Wriggle's Lantern you can more or less oneshot castercreeps with your Rakeskill.
In midgame you should start and roam to get a few ganks of if you see the enemy overextanding and pushing lanes. Tell you mates to play defensivly and safe mana to sucessfully pull off ganks. Wait in the brush for the right moment, trigger Noxian Diplomacy and jump on them with Cutthroat use your ulti Shadow Assault and immidiately attack them again and you should almost every time get that kill.
Lategame you absolute crush faces if you managed to get a few kills and continue lasthitting you creepwaves. With your bunch of farm and items that I recommended you will be your teams biggest threat so be aware of being focused all the time. On this time a Quicksilver Sash can save your life so often.
This is the end of my guide, but this does not mean it is completed yet.
I know there is a lot more to go on to, but I promise to keep this guide alive and with your help I'm sure it will get better and better...
so please rate and comment as much as you want!
I'll answer on every question and be pleased on every constructional criticism.
Thank you very much and now go out and make a name to "Du Couteau" !!! x_X
