Heimerdinger Build

Table of Contents

  • Introduction

    So, I hear you want to play Heimerdinger and be at least decent as him, eh? Well you came to the right place. In this guide I'll write about how I personally play this troll of a character. Yes, Heimer is a troll, whether you're creep stealing from your teammates while halfway across the map or you stun someone right at your turrets/towers, you're a troll, and feel free in any game as Heimer to act accordingly.

  • Masteries + Runes

    Now then, masteries and runes are important on any character. For Heimer (and most my mages) I use AP/lvl non Quints and Magic Pen Quints, gives me a nice increasing damage over the levels as well as better than average startup damage. Magic Pen marks work well too, but I don't have any as I don't have the IP and I'm working on other pages, but I digress.
    Masteries are as shown here--http://leaguecraft.com/masteries/1003400100000000000000000000030140131031301
    They work well for me, if you want sommething different, that's fine as well, all player preference right?

  • Items

    Now the good part. Item build. In my opinion a Heimer build should have ample mana regen and AP while also countering how damned squishy he is by have a couple defensive items.
    Core build though is as below.

    [item_icon=Sorceror's Shoes]

    Now you start your build with [item_icon=Meki Pendant] and potions of your choosing, I actually just got out of a ranked where I didn't use my potions until I was at level 10 because I didn't get hit once by a champion, yet again, I digress.
    On first bluepill, I usually buy , , , and . Yes, all of that on first bluepill. Why/how? Because as stated before, I last forever in lane phase as Heimer, and you should too.
    On second bluepill, finish your boots.
    Now, most people will then finish Archangel's Staff asap. I do not. I will wait until after getting at least one of the following before I finish the Staff of Death:
    for if you feel too squishy.
    for if you really wanna catch those speed demon champs.
    for if you're getting counterbuilt.
    Only after one of those will I finish AA's Staff.
    Now, with Catalyst you can either build for offensive games or for defensive games.
    A few other good items are things such as , for cooldown, armor, and teamfights; early game for good games; and everyone's favorite hat .

  • Abilities

    Techmaturgical Repair Bots
    Good for healing low health building and keeping in lane.

    H-28G Evolution Turret
    Your main damage output comes from these guys, people underestimate them and are punished.

    Hextech Micro-Rockets
    Perfect for runners and turret huggers. You haven't a clue how many people I've killed by chasing and W spamming.

    [spell=CH-1 Concussion Grenade]
    Good when being chased, especially by melee, you turn, plant it right on you, and keep running when they get stunned.

    Okay, the passive CDR is great, the actual active is meh unless you really wanna be a dick if someone dives you past your turrets and then runs back, pop your ult, stun them, chase with rockets.

  • Skilling Order

    For skills, I'll either go R>Q>W>E or R>Q>E>W depending on how the enemy is playing.
    For games where you can easily farm, take the first order and spam missiles for farm.
    For games where's the other team is just pressuring and pressuring in lane, conserve mana and use your grenades to stun by the turret and set up ganks.

  • Summoner Abilities

    For summoner spells, I take and . Heimer's grenade is very hard to place so having two escape tactics is very helpful.
    Other good spells are:

    Meh spells are:
    so terrible late game.
    good spell but not for you.
    Heimer can jungle, but this isn't a jungle Heimer guide.
    [spell_icon=Fortify] leave it for others.
    DON'T TAKE REVIVE!!!!! EVER!!!!!!

  • Pros / Cons

    Pros: Good damage output. Good early laning game. Can solo dragon quite easily without Smite. Not all too squishy. Annoying as hell.
    Cons: Heimer is hard to get the hang of. Very mana hungry early game, but luckily not very spell spammy. Still dead if focused. Kinda a slow champ.

  • Working in the team

    Main roles in the team is to set up your turrets, disable their carry with your grenade, and kill chasers; not a kill steal if no one else tries to do it. Other roles could be setting up your turrets to prevent ganks when pushing or overextending, saving allies with the stun, and killstealing with your rockets. Heimer can mid, lane with a friend, or solo against 2 champs. He can jungle with the right runes (I'd check Stonewall's videos on Youtube for that one). He is a jack of all trades.

  • Outro

    Okay, so that's mostly it. How to play and what to do. Enjoy roflstomping as the little guy with a big head.
