  • Introduction

First of all, Pantheon is not a carry, he is not a mage nor a tank and even less of a support.
If you're looking for one of these roles, you're playing the wrong champion.
Pantheon is a melee Caster, An anti-carry and he can burst pretty well.
So in the following topics, I'll explain everything needed to be a perfect baker.
    -Masteries / Runes
    -Summoner Abilities
-An how to Bake properly guide
    Here I go.

  • Masteries + Runes

Pantheon is a melee caster, He is highly mana dependent and requires lane sustainability.
For that reason, I prefer using:
    21/0/9 As masteries.
I use utility tree for the extra mana regen it grants.
Offensive tree to make sure you deal a ton of damages.
Armor penetration/extra damage is REALLY important on pantheon because he rarely do well against any tank.

    For runes, I mainly use
Marks: Greater Mark of Desolation X9 (Extra damage is a MUST)
Seals: Greater Seal of Replenishment X9 (Because Pantheon is a mana whore)
glyphs: Greater Glyph of Focus X9 (More spears/Hss I find it more usefull than MR runes)
Quints: Greater Quintessence of Desolation X1 + Greater Quintessence of Swiftness X2
As for quints, I'm more of an offensive type player and movement speed grants me the ability to chase faster targets or catch up for a stun.

While these are not the only possibilities for masteries/runes, I will stick to them as in my opinion this is the best way to make pantheon shine while allowing him to survive long enough to deal as much damage as you can.

-Why not AR Seals ? Because these Mregen runes will allow pantheon to jump directly to his damage build without having to care SO much about mana regen items. With Mana regen runes and masteries, you should have just enough to harass and farm your lane.

-Why CDR Glyphs? Because pantheon cd's are pretty high with the exeption of spearshot, and spear shot alone rarely grants you a kill, Hss will just tear appart any squishy champion and I feel that being able to stun and Hss more often will help you more than anything else as you can already build MR items anyway.

  • Items

There's a few builds which aren't bad depending on your situation in the team. So I'll try to keep it as short as possible.

    My favorite build:
I ALWAYS start with : Doran's Blade Because it grants you that extra health you need to stay in lane longer and a few extra damage is never a bad thing.

Whenever I get back home, I make sure I buy at least 1 hp pot and 1 Mana pot. that will allow you to harass much more without having to buy useless items like chalice, manamune or philo stone.
Yes these items ARE good, but for pantheon, they just take you away from your core build.

If possible, I do not come back until I can afford another Doran's Blade, Boots of Speed and 2X Long Sword.

On my next trip back,I get The Brutalizer and start my next item, if I'm doing well, I'll go for [item=B.F. Sword] else, I'll aim for a defensive item, Normally Giant's Belt is my first pick.
(Note: If ennemy team as some damage which scales with Max health, you should aim for another defensive item instead of extra health) Banshee's Veil or Randuin's Omen are nice picks.

So if you stopped dying or feel comfortable with your survivability, you should finish your first [item=Bloodthirster] as fast as possible. Else, You should finish Frozen Mallet.
I pick Frozen Mallet over Warmog's Armor, More damage, a bit less health and slow on hit is everything you need.

After this, the you should pick your items depending on how the game is going

So my build at the 20 minute mark should look like this:
Doran's Blade Doran's Blade The Brutalizer Boots of Speed with B. F. Sword or Giant's Belt

    End Game:
Ionian Boots of Lucidity The Bloodthirster The Bloodthirster Frozen Mallet Atma's Impaler Youmuu's Ghostblade

Other good boots on Pantheon are: Mercury's Treads and Boots of Swiftness
Sadly I see no real reason to pick boots of swiftness over ioanan boots, But some people prefer Speed over CDR. On pantheon, I do not.
But mercury threads are always a good pick if your opponents have alot of CC.

Another good pick is Last Whisper If your ennemies are stacking armor, then forget about the flat armor pen and just go for Last Whisper. Flat armor pen and % Armor pen doesn't scales that well together.

I will be adding more builds later on since you can build much more tanky for extra safety.
On a side note, you should NEVER build pantheon glass cannon, and you should NEVER on any champion anyway.
Please also remember pantheon IS NOT an autoattacker, so getting youmuu's as first item is a REALLY poor choice.

Here are a few nice builds on pantheon:
(Note boots can be swapped anytime from ionan/mercury
Mercury's Treads The Bloodthirster Sword of the Occult Randuin's Omen Last Whisper Hexdrinker

    High Health/Damage Baker:
Mercury's Treads Infinity Edge The Bloodthirster Frozen Mallet Atma's Impaler Guardian Angel

    Mage Baking:
Mercury's Treads Hexdrinker Banshee's Veil Youmuu's Ghostblade The Bloodthirster[item=Force of Nature] (Later, remplace the Hexdrinker with another bloodthirster)

    Tank Baking:
Mercury's Treads Last Whisper Youmuu's Ghostblade Frozen Mallet The Bloodthirster Atma's Impaler

  • Skilling

    Spear Shot
Spear shot is pantheon's bread and butter.
It is the highest single target Ad damage in game and will force squishy to buy some armor.
    I suggest starting with it

    Aegis of Zeonia
Pantheon's only stun. the stun duration is pretty short so if some of your opponents are getting tenacity, You should get a few levels in it before adding any more points in spear shot.
Always get this at level 2

    Heartseeker Strike
This is pantheon real source of damage, Early game, it allows you to get your kills pretty easily with Hss's passive. Hss is also your farming tool, but use it wisely because you'll run out of mana fast.
I click it at level 3, and Max this skill first.

    Grand Skyfall
This will be modifier, so I'll talk about it after the next patch.

    Aegis Protection
Pantheon's passive. This skill is really awesome, It will save you countless of times.
Take note, Mastering this passive, isn't easy. Knowing your opponent attack speed, and cds are the key to really make this passive shine, it will allow you to take any carry head on even at low health if you can calculate good enough the attacks between your passive and a killing blow. This passive WILL save you countless of times even if alot of people thinks it sucks.

Note: I'll try to make a list of every attack that this shields block but I haven't started yet.
    -Turret's shots
    -Any champion's normal attack.
-Warwick's ultimate, He will still hold you, but he will not gain any health nor deal any damage.
    -Gangplank's Parley
    -Ezreal's Mystic shot
    -Renekton's ruthless predator.

    Skilling order:
    1 : Grand Skyfall
    2 : Heartseeker Strike
3 : Aegis of Zeonia and or Spear Shot
4 : Spear Shot or Aegis of Zeonia
You can level Aegis of Zeonia or Spear Shot in the order you feel more comfortable with.
I usually alternate between both depending on if I need a longer stun or more damage output for harassment.

  • Summoner Abilities

    I always use flash/ ignite.
Ignite will help you negate most other carries such as Gankplank, xin zhao, Nocturne, udyr and all these champs who use Life leech/heals to keep them alive.
It also deals true damage, so it makes it pretty good against champs with alot of armor that you can't pierce, it allows you to bring them to red health for a critical hit from Hss.
It is awesomely good against mundo and Alistar as for the life gain reduction and the true damage, so if alistar ult, you will still be able to damage him enough for a critical strike.

Flash is... flash, it is just too good to not be taken. Gap closer, initiate, safety, it just does everything too well.

  • Pantheon, How to bake properly.

    Laning Baking:
In the laning phase, I start with Spear shot because it is an amazing harassing ability scaling with your ad, So until further notice, you don't need to put anymore points in it to harass well.
Unless you are being dominated in your lane, sear shot should never be used to farm until you have more mana. Make sure that you use it every now and then and aim it at the squishy target is possible.
When landing a spear shot, make sure your opponent will not retaliate because pantheon is REALLY squishy all game long and you start with no poitions.
Before you reach level 3, your opponents should be around 1/2 health if you can land your spear shot well enough.
You should w8 for the right moment to combo Q-W-E + ignite + Q and last hit for a killing critical strike. When you get your first B.F sword, You should be able to kill the caster minions with only 1 hss leaving the melee minions with about 1-2 hit kill.
Remember hss is also your farming tool, but keep in mind it cost alot of mana so I wouldn't use it to farm creeps until I can kill the casters with 1 cast.

    Team Baking:
When laning phase is over, It is time to make yourself useful.
Unless your ult is on cooldown, You shouldn't stay around with your teamates, you need to split push until a team fight is started. Then if you feel like your team is in bad positioning, you should ult in and ping to show them you are coming. If your team reacts well, they will lure opponents in the circle and make sure to stun 1 or 2 of them as you shout MANDROP!!!!!, Then Aim at the carry/support and unleash your mighty combo on them for an easy kill. If possible, make sure to position well so your Hss hits as many people as possible. once the ennemy carry dies, You should aim for the next carry/support or protect your own carry if he's getting targeted.

If your team doesn't need your help as they are engaging and keeping ennemy busy, you shall push your lanes until 1-2 of them are mia (coming for you). when that happends, you can either get the kills, Mandrop with your team and push, or mandrop on another lane and push it while they are chasing you in the previous lane.

Road to be the Perfect Baker.
Pantheon is the most squishy melee champion, and is pretty close to annie/vayne in term of squishyness.
For this reason, you should NEVER NO NEVER initiate a teamfight, and if you do, It is with mandrop hoping they will get caught out of position. Any decent team will focus you down in a matter of seconds as you land in, Because they know... you are coming to bake em all.
SO when a teamfight is about to engage, make sure you are positioned well enough to catch their carry/ support from behind and make sure you won't die before their carry do. If it happends, you did something wrong or your team did.
Remember pantheon is an anti-carry and he will burst down mostly any squishy champion with 1 combo and a few hits if that carry built glass cannon.

  • Additional information / Overall

    - Flat Armor pen is for those fights against squishy champions with only a little armor

-% Armor pen is to take down these beefy armored champions that you just can't seem to damage ever.

-Pantheon isn't an auto attacker, so youmu really is a poor choice as a first item, Getting early brutalizer doesn't mean you have to jump directly to youmu.

    - Never initiate a teamfight Exept with Grand Skyfall and make sure your allies know you're coming.

    - If possible, Try taking a solo lane vs a squishy champion, else you should team up with a champions who has another stun.

    - Jungle pantheon is REALLY a bad idea, Pantheon really shine in laning phase so there's just NO reason at all not to use it. If you think he's a good ganker because of his ult (surprise effect), The same is true for any other jungler which aren't seen by a ward before the gank.

    - In laning phase, always aim at the most squishy champion if possible, but you can harass everyone anyway.

    - In the team phase, you should aim the a support or a carry depending on your and their positioning.

-The key to really master pantheon if positioning and knowing when to enter and get out of a fight.
Pantheon burst a shitton of damage to squishy champions thus, targetting them is the best thing to do.
Try positioning your Hss to hit as many champions as possible and MAKE SURE you don't die before the ennemy's carry do, That is YOUR job.

    - Buy potions, alot of them, especially mana potions. This will allow you to skip some unneeded items.

  • Best friends to lane with

A few champions you should look forward laning with them.

    My favorite choice:
There are't many champions who would survive this combo.
Get alistar to stun someone, Land your Hss, Alistar headbutt that person away from his turret, You stun him landing a few Q + autoattacks and lower him. With Hss's passive, you should've got the kill already by that time. If your target flashed away, flash/ignite + Q is always an option.

Any other Champions with a stun are awesome lane teammates for pantheon.
    But alistar is THE cow.

Here's a list of champions you should lane with:
    Alistar (best pick)
    Blitzcrank (Second Best pick)
Karma (no stun, but she is efficient enough to grant you a double kill)
    Poppy (Another deadly combo)
    Xin zhao

    Thats about it.

  • Pros / Cons

    -Should have plently of kills
    -Easy to get fed
-Nice farming ability with B. F. Sword
-Easy to last hit minions with Hss's Passive

    -Easy to take down
-easy to counter (getting armor makes pantheon tickles) (health regen also makes it hard for pant)
-Grand skyfall is easy to get away from.
-Needs a decent team to really shine.
