    This build is under construction. Take what you can from it because it's being updated within a week or two.

  • Pros / Cons

    In this section I want to talk about the pros and cons of my build versus the other tank builds.

    Pros to AP Singed:
    -More damage means you're a bigger threat in team battles making enemies regret ignoring your gas.
    -Depending on how many targets stand foolishly in his Poison Trail, we're talking about hundreds of health per second with the use of spell vamp and AP items. With a large enough health pool, it's viable long-term survivability like health regen.
    -The use of the active ability from Bilgewater Cutlass/Hextech Gunblade gives our dear friend Singed a range slow, giving him even more gruesomely awesome chasing ability.
    -Amazing farming capabilities from the first AP item, onward. Super easy to get gold.
    -It's fun to see people get face-melted by Poison Trail!

    Cons to AP Singed:
    -Lower Max health pool at champion level 18
    -Without tank gears, he cannot be focus fired by 5 champions. This requires cunning to break up the enemy team first and some skill at timing.
    -He also cannot tank towers well >_< though if there are minions around, he can spell vamp them a while, sometimes long enough to take a tower.
    -Don't play AP Singed if your team needs a main tank! There's other builds for Singed and also champions with abilities better suited for the role.
    -If there's no reliable tank you will get blamed. And maybe it is your fault. But then again it's a team game. Perhaps it's also their fault ;)

  • Abilities

    Empowered Bulwark
    This is the ability that Riot gave Singed so that he might survive longer and slay more enemies. Shines during late game when you get up to 2500-3000 Mana (625-750 HP FREE)


    Poison Trail
    1st of 2 Damage abilities. For only having 2 damage spells, Singed can put out a LOT of damage and this spell is how. The damage is subtle because of how low it is, and how steep the AP scale is. The trick is, obviously, in getting as many enemies in the trail as possible to maximize your damage (and for this build, also your healing)


    Mega Adhesive
    Amazing range on this ability. Highly underestimated, therefore, it is the reason Singed can score a lot of extra kills. Unprepared summoners will find their champions smoked!


    Fling
    2nd of 2 Damage abilities. This is not just a great damage spell. It is also the utility that can change the outcome of a battle, and therefore the outcome of the entire game! How you use this spell is so crucial and, sadly, I don't have the time or patience to try to teach you in this guide. I'm going to call this spell a "no-brainer." Don't fling enemies toward weak teammates, and don't fling a weak enemy to safety.


    Insanity Potion
    Singed on his own can kill enemy champions and is very strong. When Insanity Potion is active, however, I am 100% confident my target is going to die. If your Flings are good and slows are on point, this should be your breadwinner.


  • Skilling Order

    You really only have two options. Option 1 is begin with Poison Trail.


    Option 2 is begin with Fling.


    Either way works well, I've tried both to great success, though I find myself using option 1 most frequently. My main concern is maxing out poison as quickly as possible for minion farming. A level 5 Poison Trail with no ability power items is capable of scoring every last-hit in a minion wave.

    Greater Quintessence of Swiftnessx3

    Mastery Choices:
    I chose Strength of Spirit over [mastery=defensive mastery]. He has a really large health and mana pool and I like to build on that. [mastery=archaic knowledge] to scale my damage and [mastery=tenacity] for survivability as a melee-range champion.

    Rune Choices:
    +4.5% movespeed = With our tank masteries we lack the lovely utility talent [mastery=Quickness]. This is a great substitute. Empowered Bulwark makes up for lost HPs that we could have picked up from Greater Quintessence of Fortitude.
    +8.5 Magic Pen is essential for our dear friend, Singed. All his attacks are magic based and He requires help scaling that damage.
    +175 Health keeps us alive. Another option could be Greater Seal of Defense (+15 armor) to compliment the bonuses from Insanity Potion but I haven't found it necessary.
    +24 Magic resist to help scale Insanity Potion Magic Resist

  • Summoner Abilities

    Ghost Cleanse

    Singed counters are snares/slows/stuns/taunts. For the same reason Insanity Potion is so useful, Ghost and Cleanse are just 2 more cooldowns that will help you get the job done! This is why we take them because it basically extends the duration of, or enhances the effect of our lovely ultimate. How you choose to use it is based on your situation and needs.

    It can also be used for some tanking strategy. When engaging the enemy team, anticipate crowd control effects accordingly. As soon as you see them used up, drop them with Cleanse and reverse direction while their entire team eats your dust... literally. My DPS teammates didn't get CC'd and often times that wins the battle. Cleanse makes the transaction smoother and you will come out alive more frequently if used correctly.

    Ghost is the best and for my item build which has no tenacity, Cleanse is a must.

  • Items

    Starting Items:

    Basic start, the Mana from the Crystal is giving us bonus health from Empowered Bulwark

    Laning Phase:

    Along with a healthy number of wards and potions, these two items should get you through the laning phase. You're capable of achieving speeds fatal to your enemies by your first 1000g really.

    Mid-game:

    Here we have a lot more damage and survivability in the form of additional health and 20% Spell Vamp. Yes, I'm aware that he's still squishy. Defensive Masteries and health only get you so far. So how about an even BIGGER health pool, and additional spell vamp? Read on!

    Late game:

    If you're asking yourself "How does the spell vamp bonus stack?" the answer is simple. gives you and your allies a Unique Aura effect, 25% Spell Vamp. The is a Unique Equip effect, 20% Spell vamp. One's an aura, the other is a unique ability you get from using the item. Here we are totaling 45% spell vamp of all magic damage done by spells. If you still don't believe me check it out for yourself in-game, Spell Vamp% is listed on every champions stat sheet (Right column)!

    Game still not over?:

    Here I have become a force to be reckoned with. Over 3200 life, 700 AP, 50% Spell vamp and more mana than you could ever use. Each poison tick is dealing over 200 damage and returning 100 life per second PER TARGET. In AoE situations this is a heal that rivals Mundo's ultimate, Sadism, and even matches Mordekaiser or Vladimir's longevity in AoE battles. I will say: if you run out of minions to gas, you're very likely going to die if you're under fire. This has been known to happen but it requires you to be constantly vigilant and paying attention to minion wave timing so you know when you can take risks.

    "WHY NO RYLAI'S PSYCIX???"

    Rylai's Crystal Scepter DOES give nice HP and AP values and I know it's tempting. However the passive is actually COUNTER to what a Singed does best. Rylai's is designed to help ranged nukers chase enemy champions, of which Singed has 0. In my most humble opinion, Singed shines when he's being chased! He deals uninhibited damage, being a safe distance ahead, and enemies are much more predictable when chasing you! It's the way the champion was designed. Rylai's actually deters people from chasing you. They have that chance to say screw it, and turn to run! And if you're in a position where Rylai's is helping, you're probably running the wrong way!

    If you want something that is going to help you catch a champion, get Hextech Gunblade instead of Rylai's Crystal Scepter! The active ability alone from Bilgewater Cutlass and Hextech Gunblade will probably net you more kills just because it's a ranged slow, which, Rylai's Crystal Scepter cannot give Singed since he has no ranged magical attacks! This will allow you to catch that one slippery devil that you just could not get close enough to Fling! Mega Adhesive is a lovely spell, indeed, but it still has a long cooldown and because it deals no magic damage, Rylai's does not interact with it making Rylai's Crystal Scepter even more useless. NO NO NO to Rylai's Crystal Scepter!
