Heimerdinger Build

Table of Contents

  • Abilities

    Techmaturgical Repair Bots
HP regen as passive - quite useful in earlygame.

    H-28G Evolution Turret
Can tank buffs + dragon, help in teamfights, slow down escaping or chasing enemies and scout bushes. Very useful if used wisely.

    Hextech Micro-Rockets
Your farming skill. 6 sec CD in the end, get 3 creepkills per shot if you are used to it.

    [spell=CH-1 Concussion Grenade]
Skillshot-stun. Learn to hit = key to get good stats.

    UPGRADE!!!
Turrets get slow, 5 instead of 3 rockets and faster traveling time of your grenade for 10s. You won't need it that much. Further it decreases your cooldowns passivly.

  • Introduction

Hi, this is a guide for players who know how important creepkills are for having advantage in the game.
I'm a really experienced Heimerdinger player and think that the "nerfs" he got were necessary to stop players set a lot of turrets and wait there. Now it's far more dynamic because you can set 2 turrets with only 1 second delay.
I don't play ranked games often. In normal games my elo should be somewhere in the mid / high-mid (653 won, 509 lost) with a great part played as Heimerdinger.
This guide does not focus on the turrets because of the lag of creepkills.
Note: Only go mid if you play Heimer.

A few days ago I downloaded the LOL Replayer 0.5.7 and just recorded a game with Heimerdinger (11/2/10). It's of course not the best game I had with him, but you can see ganks and gameplay. You can download it with the following link and watch it if you have the LOL Replayer as well: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1522231/Heimerdinger_Pyro_Manne.lrf

This is a quite short guide. Basic's are not discussed here.

If you wanna play with me, you can add me: I'm playing on the EU server and my summoner name is "Pyro Manne" as well.

  • Masteries + Runes

I take 9/0/21 masteries with the 15% magic pen, more exp gained, movement and CD reduction. Pretty standard caster.
    For runes I suggest:
    Red: magic pen
yellow: health, mana reg or AP
    blue: flat CD red
    quints: flat health

So you get survivability in cases of ganks. It should be possible to escape almost all of these.

  • Summoner Spells

Flash: You can't live without it.
As 2nd spell I recommend Clarity because Heimer's abilities cost so much mana and combined with the small CD it's more than any other champion needs.

  • Items

This guide focuses on the mid- and lategame "ownage" of Heimerdinger. You don't have AP in the first 10 minutes.
Start with [item=meki pendant] and 2 Health Potions.
Farm as described below and return to base at lvl 8-9 to upgrade your Meki Pendant to Tear of the Goddess and getting Sorcerer's Shoes.
Depending on the game your next item is Catalyst the Protector if you need some HP or Blasting Wand to get more dmg on your spells.
Now you should run for Rod of Ages and after that Archangel's Staff. This ends in about 200 AP.
Rabadon's Deathcap increases your AP heavily to ~500.
Analyze the game and choose between the following as 5th item:
    - Banshee's Veil if there's a lot of CC in the other team
    - Void Staff if you and your team is doing well and the other team has bought some magic resistance
-a 2nd Archangel's Staff will increase your AP so much. If you choose to do so, your 6th item has to be a 3rd Archangel's Staff because the amount of AP you'll get is just great.

Do not buy Chalice of Harmony or Philosopher's Stone because you'll get the mana regen from the manabuff at the beginning and your archangels in the end.

  • Skilling Order

Get rockets whenever it is possible. At lvl 4 get 1 point in grenade and max it as last skill, because it only increases the damage and not the stun duration.
If you have a jungler, you can start with your turret to ward a bush.

  • Farming

This section is the key to be useful for your team.
The only way this guide works so great is to get a lot of creepkills.
Autoattack the 3 creeps which are close to you but do not try to kill them with it. If all 3 of them (or at least 2....) got low hp, fire your rockets and you'll get them. This requires some experience how much dmg a rocket deals. If you keep this going, you are the guy with the most creepkills in game - sometimes with a big gap to the 2nd most creepkiller.
If your opponent is playing agressively, you can try to get 2 creepkills and additionally hit him with the rockets. This combines farming and harrassing.
Try to get mana buff as often as you can to spam your abilities.

  • Teamfights

The best thing is always if your tank initiates. Set 2 Turrets and then try to stay in the background, stun DD's and fire your rockets whenever it is possible. Only possible if your team doesn't split up or enemies are closing in from 2 different sides. Care!

  • Enemy Jungler....

should be no problem for you if you set your turret(s) into the 2 bushes at both sides of the mid lane. You can see him coming and walk back to your tower. In most cases they have a melee jungler. If you don't see him coming, let him catch up and only then throw your grenade to get a 100% stun.
Rammus jungling? If he's coming with his powerball, set up a turret and he will ram it instead of you.

  • Other team's mid player

There is only 1 guy I don't want to play against in mid: Mordekaiser. His shield regenerates faster than your rocket is back from CD. Furthermore he will push you back. In this case you should stay near your tower and try to last hit with your rockets.
Enemies with great range like Ashe or Caitlyn will destroy your turrets instantly, so don't even think about to set one (you need the mana for your rocket). No problem, because this guide doesn't focus on turrets.
Enemies with stun like Annie or Anivia: Just care a bit more!
Enemies with skillshots (Anivia's stun, Lux,....): Try to not being hit by skillshots - not only with Heimerdinger, with all your champions you will play!
