Introduction
Hello everyone! I'm making this guide separate because of size but it is connected to my other guide Kog'Maw AD, AS, AP
http://leaguecraft.com/strategies/guide/13982-kog-maw-ad-as-ap-all-three-finished-and-updated.xhtml
This guide is consisting of how to react to every single champion when you're playing as Kog'Maw
Sorry about the picture size
Also if you have any suggestions or don't like something i've said then just leave a comment and i'll change the guide. This isn't just MY GUIDE. This is for everyone to add and remove what they want and i want to do my best to be helpful to everyone. -
Champion Reactions
In this section of the guide which will take the longest i will be using a small portrait of every single champion in alphabetical order and tell you how you should react when you see this champion on the opposing team. Seeing as there is a lot of champions this will not be completely finished in one sitting but i will constantly be adding. But to give you a little preview i decided to do the FIRST ONE! Which is Akali and incindently Kog'Maw's greatest enemy.
Akali-This will be your greatest enemy when you are Kog'Maw. There are many other champions that can close the gap but they can't slow and stealth at the same time. Akali's pool is the greatest downfall of kog seeing as he's extremely slow and susceptible to burst damage in the first place. Not all Akali's are good so you don't always have to do this. For the many occasions that you are playing against a good Akali there's only one thing you can do. Get anOracle's Elixir and fight! I know Kog with an oracle seems ridiculous but almost every Akali will look at you as a snack. I stay strong that with Kog you should stay and fight for most situations because you won't be getting away usually. But really, against Akali GET AN
Oracle's Elixir
Alistar- He is not a champion you should worry about. You just don't want to get close to him. Also if you're laning against him early game bombing him a lot will just waste your mana because he will constantly heal himself withTriumphant Roar. You should also consider going AS or AD build if the other team has an Alistar because the biggest part of an AP Kog build is withering the opposing team away with
Living Artillery and Alistars
Triumphant Roar will make this hard.
Amumu-Amumu isn't that much of a problem for Kog. If you see him come out from the side of a team fight you're going to want to watch him because being Kog you're going to be a target and he's going to try his best to catch you inCurse of the Sad Mummy. You also want to keep your distance from him because you will cause his
Tantrum to constantly be up if you're AD or AS
Anivia-She isn't that big of a deal. You should look at her as if she's some food to feed on. Her skill shots are easily avoidable and you can bomb her and attack withBio-Arcane Barrage further than she can get you in
Glacial Storm
Annie-her range isn't rediculous and even if she full combo's you, you can still sit there and kill her before she kills you
Ashe-Not much of a problem. Expect her to focus you withEnchanted Crystal Arrow once she uses that you can kill her.
Brand-I have yet to actually play against a brand while i'm Kog. I don't see him being too much of a problem and to be treated just as any other champion. Since it's best to open with conflag for him, with the short range it has you can eat most of him away while sitting behind some minions or a teammate so you don't get caught withSear.
Blitzcrank-Stay away from his hook. Simple as that.
Caitlyn-She is a joke don't worry about her. More food for you
Cassiopia-I have only seen one good cass and i've seen many so for the most part she's going to be worthless against you. But if you do run into a good one simply stay far enough away from her so you don't get caught byPetrifying Gaze cause a good one can kill you if you get stunned by that.
Cho'Gath- Expect him to useFeast on you and that's about it. You can keep your distance and mow him down easily
Corki-You win. Simple as that
Dr. Mundo-He will be your favorite champion to see. The whole point of being Mundo is because you don't want to die. Unfortunately Kog is the ultimate tank killer and you will eat through an entire mundo ult and more. He won't be able to kill you and mundo will become useless on their team.
Evelynn-This ho will target you instantly. Since Kog is supposed to stand a little back on teamfights evelynn has the ability to come right next to you and especially early game she will be a problem because you won't have yourFrozen Mallet or
Rylai's Crystal Scepter yet so she can take you down quick. A good way to counter her is by getting an
Oracle's Elixir and use
Void Ooze as soon as you see her.
Ezreal-He doesn't pose too much of a threat. Just dodge his attacks and you'll beat him regardless of him being AD or AP.
Fiddlesticks-Hate this guy. No one likes playing against a fiddle. Since you're Kog you have an advantage of range against him. If you don't get caught by his fear or drain mixed withCrowstorm you can eat through him with
Bio-Arcane Barrage and his drain will pose no threat.
Galio-Galio is a joke. If you see him coming towards you use yourBio-Arcane Barrage right before he ults and you'll eat through his
Idol of Durand with no problem
Gangplank-He doesn't pose any threat early game because he is lacking in crit items. Late game he can be a little bit of a problem withRemove Scurvy and
Parrrley because he can take chunks of your health and heal through your attacks but you should just target him down from afar quickly and he'll pose no threat.
Garen-Not much too him except you should expect him to target you withDemacian Justice so be wary. Also your
Void Ooze will be pretty much useless on him along with the
Frozen Mallet since he can remove slows so don't bother trying to slow him just take him down as quick as you can with your
Bio-Arcane Barrage
Gragas-Not much to him that can hurt you but he can put you in a bad situation withExplosive Cask so just be wary.
Heimerdinger-Stay away from hisH-28G Evolution Turret's especially when he uses
UPGRADE!!! and you'll win with no problem.
Irelia-She's one of those champions you have to be wary of. A good Irelia can call for a lot of problems with Kog. HerEquilibrium Strike poses a great threat against Kog considering she can use it to turn a battle then use
Transcendent Blades to get all her health back and she could win. So just wait till she shows up and bomb her quick because she doesn't have much health.
Janna-She's fun to play against because she poses no threat and when she usesMonsoon it's even funnier because your
Bio-Arcane Barrage at level 5 can hit her while she's ulting without you standing in the ring.
Jarvan IV- Rorschach "I'm not in here with you. YOU'RE IN HERE WITH ME"
Jax-Be careful when you're playing against Jax because all that dodge poses a lot of threat to Kog. HisLeap Strike can close the gap and he can get you down quick so wait until he leaps at another one of your teammates then target him down really fast.
Karma-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Karthus-Stay out of hisLay Waste as you would with every other champion. If you're laning mid against a karthus he can easily keep you at your tower until level six. Once you hit 6 though your bombs will be taking a little more than an 1/8 of his health per hit so he's easy pickings. Obviously target him down as soon as you see him during team fights because you have the huge advantage of hitting him outside of
Defile. Also all throughout the game you're going to hate
Requiem
Kassadin-He can close the gab and silence you right away along with that slow. The best thing you can do against a Kass is useBio-Arcane Barrage as soon as you can because he is more than likely going to target you with
Null Sphere because you are going to be your teams carry.
Katarina-She's a pain in the ass and since you're so slow with kog you're more than likely going to eat each knife from her ult 1v1 so the only plausible thing you can do is just stay and fight. You might die you might not. Just do your best and don't ult her right away because she's going to useShunpo a lot and keep going behind you.
Kayle-Not much of a problem at all. I've been same level as a kayle and fought him 1v1 both full health and he's used [spell=exhuast]Ignite and used his ult on himself and you can still kill him.
Kennen-Stay away from the perma stunz. Keep out ofSlicing Maelstrom and you'll be fine.
Kog'Maw- WOO YOU'RE FIGHTING YOURSELF! Other than simply being better which always isn't the case. The best way to counter a Kog is by going strictly AP and out bombing him for the most part and keep him out of the fights. BE BETTER!
LeBlanc-A bad Leblanc is easy to handle. But if you catch a good leblanc she can be quite a problem. If you find the LeBlanc you're facing is tough have your team focus her hard because she will be able to one combo you until you have your frozen mallet. And even then she still might be able to do so depending on how fed she is.
Lee Sin-I have yet to have a problem facing one 1v1 since he has no disables. Plus it's even funnier when he uses his ult because that just screws himself over more.
Lux-Once she has blown her snare and slow she's useless so just go ahead and kill her.
Malphite-HisUnstoppable Force has a huge range so during team fights you're going to want to stay away from your team because once he's in there you can kill him but if you get hit by him you're gonna take some damage. If he uses it to gank there isn't much you can do besides ward the brush and try to catch him before he does.
Malzahar-Wait for him to useNether Grasp and after that he's useless.
Maokai-Stay away fromSapling Toss early game and you'll be fine. You can also hit him outside of his
Vengeful Maelstrom
Master Yi-He can close the gap withAlpha Strike and make sure you don't get away with
Highlander so the best thing you can do is just stay and fight.
Miss Fortune-She's a bit of a bitch if you're laning against her mid but late game she'll have nothing on you.
Mordekaiser-Just another champion that gets health that you love to see for the most part UNLESS he usesChildren of the Grave on you. In that case RUN LIKE HELL. Especially if you have your [item=madred's bloodrazor] and
Frozen Mallet he will be able to rape your team with little to no effort with your body. So if you get ulted just run away and make sure you're never at a low enough health to get one shotted by his ult. If you know you're going to die from his ult and he's going to get your ghost run as far away from your team as possible but not too far to where your ghost is going to teleport to mord.
Morgana-Not much of a problem but if she catches you withSoul Shackles just target her down fast.
Nasus-Wither is going to cause a small problem but he isn't going to be able to do much that you can't handle with ease and a little
Bio-Arcane Barrage
Nidalee-Watch out for that spear!!! Other than that she has nothing on you
Nocturne-Play against a nocturne as you would if you were any other champion. He's just another champion who can pick you out easy because of his ult and that won't be good for you especially since he can fear you and more than likely kill you before you kill him. So just be careful and i wouldn't suggest taking him on alone.
Nunu-If you get caught in his ult don't stand in it and try to take him down quick. It's better for you to try and get far and avoid the damage because even if you get hit by his ult you'll be far enough to take him down quick without him getting too close for some melee attacks.
Olaf-Not much a problem. Target him down is all
Pantheon-If he stuns you just move out ofHeartseeker Strike
Poppy-Stay away from walls
Rammus-the thing about rammus is that you can mow through him easily even while he is using hisDefensive Ball Curl. Also, if you know he's about to taunt you use your
Bio-Arcane Barrage right before hand and you'll hurt him a lot more than he wanted you to.
Renekton-Not a problem. Target and win.
Rumble-I've seen quite a few good rumbles. The one problem rumble has though is his ability to close the gab. You are more than likely going to mow him down before he can get to you and dish out some real damage though. Be careful though and watch for him because if he sneaks up on you there's a chance he'll win the fight.
Ryze-Since his re-work you have to be slightly more cautious around him because his range is longer. His damage was nerfed though so you don't have to worry too much but hisRune Prison will make you a big target in team fights if you get caught in it.
Shen-Same thing as rammus. If you know you're about to get taunted just use yourBio-Arcane Barrage right before he uses
Shadow Dash
Singed-Stay away from his flip and you're fine.
Sion-Sion hurts a lot. So be wary of him. The long range on his stun makes him pretty ridiculous so just be careful and take him down as soon as you see him use his stun.
Sivir-Little of a joke champion that you won't have a problem taking down.
Sona-Since you have a very long range it's your job to take down the sona sitting in the back of the other team so get on that and do your job!
Soraka=Just like when playing against sona it's your job to take down the healer in the back so do so.
Swain-He poses some threat to a lot of teams because he can keep his health up withRavenous Flock but just like when you're playing against mundo you don't really care because you can eat through it anyways.
Taric-He doesn't pose any threat except for making you a target if you get hit by his stun.
Teemo-You're more than likely going to be the target of teemo'sBlinding Dart so just ult him use your
Void Ooze and hit him with
Caustic Spittle to wait out the time of the blind but as soon as that blind is up use your
Bio-Arcane Barrage and win the fight.
Tristana-She's not much of a problem. The only threatening thing she can do is shooting you towards her team withBuster Shot
Trundle-Another one of those joke champions that pose no threat to you.
Tryndamere-Any smart trynd will target you right away in a fight because he knows he'll win. For playing against a good trynd you're going to just have to juke him and hope your team has your back because a trynd will win the fight.
Twisted Fate-Not much of a threat. A good twisted fate can sometimes beat a early game Kog 1v1
Twitch-As long as you stay aware that you're facing a twitch and you keep a good eye out for him you can out damage him.
Udye-You can beat him. Udyr is only really good for consistent damage. Kog's weakness is burst. So you'll be fine. Just stay and fight him
Urgot-He is a real pain in the ass laning phase because he can deal some serious damage early game. Late game, though, you will beat him no problem.
Vayne-She's starting to be considered the new anti tank and her and kog are pretty similar. One thing that she can do though is stun. She's given a stun instead of the long range that kog has. I've only played against a few so far and i haven't been too intimidated or found her to be a big problem for me because the range has made a big difference on top of her being very squishy.
Veigar-He isn't much a problem. Worst thing you could do is decide to go AP Kog against a veigar.
Vladimir-Wait for him to useSanguine Pool and then blow your cool downs and he won't be much of a problem.
Warwick-If there is a jungling WW he's probably going to target you with his ult when he hits six. If you're fortunate enough to not get hit by his ult and your teammate does then target him the second he jumps on one of your teammates.
Xin Zhao-He can be a problem if he's constantly hitting you up in the air during a team fight because that makes you an easy target but 1v1 you'll win every time.
Zilean-Nothing to worry about here except for double bombs early game. Other than that he's no threat.
Take him down right away during a team fight though because you can hit him from afar and you want him to waste his ult on himself.
