    My name is Cute Girl (US) and this is my cute guide on the steampunk head blowing queen — Caitlyn.
    This guide goes through basics and provides some tips for advanced players.

    So hide your daughters, load your guns, here we go!

  • Abilities

    Every 8 attacks (attacks while in brush count as 2), Caitlyn will fire a headshot.

    This is the first reason why Caitlyn is the goddess of the lane. Camp brush as much as possible and be sure to land a headshot on every enemy, who dares to come close to your creeps. It also helps a lot with last hitting, because it deals 250% damage to minions. Keep in mind, that Caitlyn has enormous range on her autoattacks, so you can harass without much danger for yourself.

    Does not proc on building, but charges up the stacks. Or you hoped to headshot the nexus?

    Piltover Peacemaker
    Caitlyn revs up her rifle for 1 second to unleash a penetrating shot which deals physical damage.

    The second reason why it's so impossible to lane against Cait. Feel it like Sivir's Q: excellent for farm and a good nuke with 1:1 total AD-ratio. And it's really works: few Peacemakers will pacify the most aggressive enemies.

    It deals physical damage, but don't apply any on-hit effects (unlike her ultimate).

    Yordle Snap Trap
    Caitlyn sets up to two traps, which trigger on champions, immobilizing the target and dealing magic damage over 1.5 seconds.

    Spell, which requires some tactic to use, but have tons of usages. First of all, this is our ward substitute. Keep one or two in the brush on the side lanes and it will save your life many times. But do not rely on them too much, 'cause it's really easy to spot the trap (they are visible for all players, just like Nidalee's traps). Second, this is our, naturally, hard-to-use snare. Place it behind the running enemy and he will either get snared or will walk around, giving you some time to land few more shots. You can save allies with it or secure yourself a clean retreat. Assume, that it doesn't trigger on creeps and is not targeted by towers, so you can place it directly under the enemy tower to destroy the tower safely or unleash Peacemaking Headshot combo. Just to opposite — you can use it to secure yourself from enemy towerdive. Use your imagination!

    Traps dont have their own line of sight, but reveal champion who stepped on it for few seconds, giving you a chance to land your ultimate.

    90 Caliber Net
    Caitlyn fires a heavy net to slow her target. The recoil knocks Caitlyn back.

    Tricky spell, really requires some practice to use it right. First, it's our «anti-gank» tool: slows the enemy and charges you back to the tower. Can be used as a great escape tool, 'cause it knocks you even through walls. Also the knockback can be used as a chasing tool, but you need to have fast hands, 'cause the dash is really small, sometimes it's better to just run.

    Ace in the Hole
    Caitlyn takes time to line up the perfect shot, dealing massive damage to a single target at a huge range.

    That's what all girls do — they take time. But in Caitlyn's case it's worth it. Really powerful nuke with 2:1 bonus AD-ratio (everything except the base damage). The main tip here: don't hurry. Due to massive range you will have time to shot the fleeing enemy, but if you gonna use it in the middle of the teamfight, most of the time you'll either just loose mana and put it on 5-second cooldown ('cause the target will be already dead) or the bullet gonna be intercepted by another enemy champion, 'cause fights are messy.

    It applies most of on-hit effects (like Mallet's slow), so Red Buff is really the must have on Cait, 'cause it really frustrating when target gets away with 10 hp.

  • Equipment

    Caitlyn really loves Attack Damage and Armor Penetration, so we gonna focus on those two aspects. Some attack speed is also nice, 'cause we are not just gonna stand there and watch our cooldowns off.

    Start with a Doran's Blade and a Health Potion. Change to a Mana Potion if you feel like spammer or dont have enough Mana Regen runes.

    On your first trip back try to grab Boots of Speed and one or two Long Sword.

    Proceed to The Brutalizer, Phage and Berserker's Greaves or Mercury's Treads.

    If you are having a bad game, buy an Avarice Blade and proceed to Youmuu's Ghostblade.

    If not, just farm a B. F. Sword and build The Black Cleaver (perfect item for her), followed by Frozen Mallet. Sword of the Occult is also a good trade.

    What about a Last Whisper? Remember, this is a counter item, build it only if they stack armor in serious amounts. You have enough penetration from your runes, The Brutalizer and The Black Cleaver, 40% will be just a waste (it applies last).

  • Masteries, Runes and Summoner Spells

    Masteries are basic: 21/0/9, there is nothing to talk about. She needs full offensive tree and increaced buff duration in utility.

    For runes you should go:
    Greater Mark of Desolation
    Greater Glyph of Clarity
    Greater Seal of Clarity
    Greater Quintessence of Desolation

    Caitlyn loves Armor penetration, because her main damage output is physical and Clarity runes solve all the mana problems, so we dont have to waste a slot for mana regen item.

    As for spells I recommend Flash + Exhaust/ Cleanse

    Caitlyn can't do much if enemy comes in melee range, but Flash + Net combo will help you to get out. Getting stunned pretty much equals dying, that's why you need Cleanse, but you can take Exhaust if you are planning to build Banshee's Veil.

  • How to Play

    If you went on the side lane, from the first levels try to locate yourself in the bushes and harass enemy with Peacemaking Headshots. And dont forget to place a trap into the river brush. Push enemies, dont let them last hit. If they tower hug — great, hit the tower, placing a trap in from and behind of you to secure a clear retreat. On level 6 tell your teammate to deal as much damage as possible to the enemy and pray for a lucky shot.

    On mid tune your aggression depending on the enemy: you can try to deny their last hits or just farm from the safe distance. Dont forget about ganks, although she is not a best ganker, with right using of her traps and net you will succeed.

    By level 6 ask a teammate to help you grabbing a Lizard Buff, if jungler dont rely on it. On level 10+ you can do it yourself without much loss in health. Now ganking gonna be way easier.

    In teamfights use your range wisely. Shoot your Peacemakers from the distance until you can pick a target and focus on it. If an enemy is fleeing — it's your turn, take some time and pull out your Ace from the Hole. Boom, headshot!
