  • Introduction

Hi, I'm Arqan and this is my first guide I wrote for LC community. While I'm not a truly competitive player, I'd like to share with you my experience with Mordekaiser. I'm pretty sure that both newbies and experienced summoners will find some useful information in this guide.
Who actually inspired me to write this guide, are LoL players I meet every day. Most of them consider Mordekaiser as easy to play champion and more often than not they end up under-performing because of suboptimal builds, wrong skilling order and stupid tactics. In fact Mordekaiser is one of the most unique champions and requires some practice to be played properly. I hope this guide will make your practice as easy as possible and will save you from making stupid mistakes.

  • Patchnotes

Shield decay reduced to 3% from 5%

Fuck yeah, with 5% decay maintaining the shield in lane was ridiculously hard. Now with the nerf reversed you can rock n' roll (or heavy n' metal if you prefer) once again.

Shield generation increased to 25/27.5/30% from 20/25/30%

A rather small buff to his early game laning phase. But buff is a buff (25% increase at passive level 1) and let's be happy about that. Who knows, this additional few points of shield might save your life someday.

Veteran Scars mastery HP per rank reduced from 15 to 12.

A small early game nerf to Tank Mordekaiser. But 12 HP is nothing to cry about.

Doran's items cost increased by 40 gold.

I need to play more games to judge whether it's a good or bad change for Mordekaiser. Good thing is that enemies will be squishier and more prone to harassing while we have our shield to deal with this issues. On the other hand lack of emergency regen makes spell spamming more risky than before.
Regrowth Pendant + Health Potion as starting items look more tempting now.
Update: starting with Doran's Shield is alright but you should consider Regrowth Pendant and a Potion unless you go 2 vs 1.

Mace of Spades ability power ratio increased to 0.4 from 0.2

Mordekaiser buffed again. This will affect mostly AP Mordekaisers who like to make Lich Bane since 350 damage + 1.7 per point of AP against single target HURTS a lot.

Fixed a bug where Mordekaiser's per-level health, armor, attack speed, damage, and magic resist were lower than intended.

A bugfix, yay! Thank you Riot!

  • Abilities

    Iron Man
One of the most unique and powerful passives in the game. It makes Mordekaiser such an awesome solo lane champion. If used properly it will deal with majority of crap your opponents might throw at you. It also adds a lot to Mordekaiser's late game survivability by scaling with Armor and Magic Resistance. Basically the more damage you deal with your spells, the harder it is to kill you and since three of your spells are AoE... The more you hit, the more you get! Awesome, isn't it?

    Mace of Spades
This spell is pretty simple, your next attack deals spell damage instead of your normal damage and can hit up to 3 additional nearby targets. What's more, it deals 75% more damage to main target if there are no other enemies in range of this spell, making it pretty potent in 1 vs 1 situation. Make sure to use it between your auto attacks for maximum potential since it resets attack timer.
Early you will mainly use it to farm creeps and harass your opponents in lane later it will add some more AoE damage to your arsenal to use during teamfights.

    [spell=Creeping Death]
Your built-in Sunfire Cape. Basically two Sunfire Capes. When maxed it deals very nice 80 AoE damage per second to all enemies in range, making it perfect for chasing and dealing sustained damage while gradually loading your shield. But that's not all. In addition to dealing damage it also increases Armor and Magic Resistance of the wielder! And that's still not everything! You can actually cast it on your ally when you want to help him with killing someone who is out of your range or to annoy enemy Karthus and save your mate from Requiem

    Siphon of Destruction
Your bread and butter and your main shield loading spell. It has got nice AoE and a pretty short cooldown, so use it to farm, deal AoE damage, harass, scout bushes (if someone is in, then your shield will rise) and obviously to push. Mordekaiser is so awesome at pushing, that he actually can't help doing it. That's why you should be careful when using this or you will soon find yourself way too close to enemy tower.

    Children of the Grave
Truly an amazing ultimate. It deals damage in two ways: half initially and half over 10 seconds, while also healing you for the same amount. But what makes it so awesome is the seconds part: if enemy dies under effect of this curse, his ghost comes to serve us for 30 seconds. It is stronger than original champion, boosts our own stats, is controllable but can't cast spells (note that passive abilities still work!). If you manage to kill enemy carry with this, then you should be able to beat anything. So many times it scored me multikills while also saving my life. How? Every attack the ghost performs generates our shield! That's right, damage done by pet loads our lovely silver bar.
Learn how to use it or you will never be a good Mordekaiser.

  • Pros / Cons

    - AoE damage monster
    - Almost unkillable
    - Can lane 1 vs 1 or 1 vs 2
    - Hands down the best farmer in the game
    - Game changing ultimate
    - Can usually outlevel other champions
    - If fed enough early on, can stomp the game easily
    - Passive is absolutely awesome throughout the game
    - Can push like a madman...

    - ...Even if you don't want him to do so
    - No CC whatsoever
    - No escape mechanism
    - Easy to kite and might get outzoned
    - Needs to be in melee range to reach full potential
    - Spamming spells early is risky
    - Can't lane with partner, unless he is item independant

  • Summoner Abilities

Your Summoner Abilities should always be the same:
Ghost allows you to chase effectively as well as run away from "oh shit" situations. Because Mordekaiser doesn't have any innate chasing/escaping spell you absolutely need this or you will get poked to the death.
Ignite is a must have, period. It helps your ganking a lot, while also ensuring that the target marked with Children of the Grave won't get saved by a random healing spell. You don't want this stupid Taric to screw your perfect plan, do you?

  • Skilling Order

After testing different builds I decided that this one is the best. We max our E first for AoE damage, then W for some sustained damage and protection. So Q is last with one point at level 2 for harrasing, last hitting creeps and allowing additional mace swing since it resets attack timer. We take R whenever possible - obviously.

  • Masteries and Runes for Tank Mordekaiser

    External Image
For Tank Mordekaiser we go deep into Defensive branch. It will help us with more early game Armor and MR, provide us with dodge chance and Nimbleness which is awesome for tank, add 48 starting HP for extra survivability early and 4% damage reduction to add to our invincibility.
We also put 9 points in Offensive branch for CDR and Magic Penetration.

    As for runes:

    Greater Mark of Insight
No discussion here. Most of Mordekaiser's damage comes from his spells. Even if you don't play him AP based Magic Penetration will still help you a lot. And it also makes harassing in lane so much easier.

    Greater Seal of Evasion
Dodge runes with increased dodge chance and Nimbleness from Defensive branch will give enemy DPS serious trouble taking you down. Probably the best choice for Tank Mordekaiser.

    Greater Glyph of Warding
Flat MR will help immensly in the early game. In laning phase Mordekaiser is vulnerable to burst magic damage that breaks his shield and deals heavy damage. And regenerating HP in lane is not simple task since all our spells drain HP.
You might ask, why not MR per level? Because Greater Glyph of Shielding and Greater Glyph of Warding get equal at level 10 and per level runes won't make your laning at levels 1-4 (when you are the most vulnerable) noticably better. And the difference during late game isn't that big, since we will be buying MR items anyway.

    Greater Quintessence of Fortitude
    Greater Quintessence of Insight
Flat HP or Magic Penetration you ask? I will leave the decision to you, because in my opinion both are perfectly viable. Flat HP however might make the difference beetwen getting First Blood or getting First Blooded and that's why I stick to this runes.

  • Items for Tank Mordekaiser

    Start with:

    Health Potion
    Regrowth Pendant
If you are going 1 vs 1 (either mid or top when both teams have a jungler) this is a viable choice. Since you are going only against one enemy, you don't need additional HP or Armor from Doran's Shield because your opponent is not likely to have enough damage to cut through your shield and damage you seriously. And we can't forget about additional 48 HP from our defensive masteries. Additionally HP regen is just invaluable for spamming your spells. Regrowth Pendant will be used later to build Force of Nature.
    Doran's Shield
If you are taking 1 vs 2 lane you need more HP and armor to prevent getting killed with burst damage. Don't try starting with Regrowth Pendant, it is way too risky against dual stunner/nuker and that might happen.

    Mercury's Treads
    Sorcerer's Shoes
    Ionian Boots of Lucidity

    Sunfire Cape
    [item=Force of Nature]
You should get this items in pretty much every game. This build will provide you with anything you need: a fair bit of Armor and MR, enough HP to make you hard to take down and 20 Magic Penetration or CC reduction. Get this items first which you need the most - however I usually find myself getting FoN last and just grabbing early Negatron Cape if I'm in need of MR.
While this might not be the cheapest Core, Mordekaiser is an excellent farmer (one of the best, if not the best) and generally has no problem getting this.
    VS VS
This three pairs of boots are the only ones viable for Mordekaiser. So which should we pick?
For AP Mordekaiser this is easier as CDR and Magic Penetration boots are the most viable, however as Tank Mordekaiser we might find ourselves in desperate need of Mercury's Treads because of CC reduction (against teams full of disables or to counter certain champions like Galio) since a tough champion like Mordekaiser can make some use of this. If you feel like getting Merc's, it's ok, however keep in mind that Sorcerer's Shoes would boost your damage from spells as well as damage from Sunfire Cape while Ionian Boots allow you to deal more damage due to your spells having lower cooldowns. The decision is up to you.

    AP based build:

    Rylai's Crystal Scepter
Mordekaiser lacks any form of CC, so it might be smart to give him one! Rylai's Scepter will help Mordekaiser big time as it gives nice stats and reliable slow with range equal to range of your spells. Need AoE slow? Cast Siphon of Destruction. Need single target slow? Cast Children of the Grave. Enemies running away from your Creeping Death? No more!
    Zhonya's Hourglass
Very good item for more AP oriented Mordekaisers. It gives you Armor, AP and an AMAZING active ability. I don't know how many times it saved my ass. Activating it in the right moment will negate tons of damage in teamfight, all you need is practice.
    Abyssal Scepter
Magic Resistance, Magic Reduction aura and AP in one item? Yes please. Feel free to get it if you need more MR than Force of Nature alone can offer. Keep in mind that Magic Reduction applies to all enemy champions in range, making it awesome item to help your casters dish out more damage.

    AD based build:

    Frozen Mallet
Mordekaiser lacks any form of CC, so it might be smart to give him one! While Frozen Mallet requires you to be in melee range it has one advantage over Rylai's Scepter - it permamently slows your target as long as you can hit him. It is harder to catch a runner but once you do it there is no way that he will escape you without Ghost or Flash-like ability. Great synergy with Atma's Impaler.
    Atma's Impaler
Auto-attack item. Once you hit 2000+ HP it really starts to be good. It gives you Armor, Critical Strike chance (not very useful) and a very good passive for tank. Buy it if you like to melee your enemies when your spells are on CD. Great synergy with Frozen Mallet.

    All-rounded items:

    "Armor is good for you!"
    Randuin's Omen
This item is the best choice if you are in need of Armor and HP. It also gives you active AoE slow, protection from auto-attacking champions as well as some CDR. What's not to love here?
If you are ungodly focused (which is just plain stupidity but whatever) by AD champions this is the way to go. Make them kill themselves with their auto attacks and laugh as your HP just doesn't drop.

    "Magic Resistance for the win!"
    Quicksilver Sash
A very underrated item that might serve you well if your enemies are chain-disabling you to the death or just to counter certain ultimate spells like Warwick's or Malzahar's. It also adds plenty of MR, so it's definitely a good item against AP heavy teams.
    Banshee's Veil
Yes, mana is completely wasted. No, it doesn't make this item useless. Get this if you need the Spell Shield and more Magic Resistance.

    "A little bit of everything..."
    Aegis of the Legion
A good item for tank who wants to support his team more. If there is no other champion to get it, you can grab one for "Great Justice!"
    Guardian Angel
To be honest - I don't like this item. It's overpriced for what it gives but revive might be crucial. Especially when you manage to kill enemy carry and few seconds after that you die from focus fire. With this item your ghost will not disappear and you will be back to pwn some more faces. Additionally if you are owning heavily you might grab it to score a 250% critical hit on their morale. What's worse than Legendary Mordekaiser with two lifes?

  • Tank Mordekaiser: what to do and how to do

So you might be wondering why the fuck did I call this build Tank Mordekaiser? It's commonly known that Mordekaiser is a soak because he has no way to force enemies to attack him. WRONG. Mordekaiser has one of the best taunts in the game: MENTAL TAUNT.

In the teamfight your role is not to make enemies focus you and not even to protect your teammates. Your role is to kill enemy DPS and if you execute it succesfully the ones I mentioned before will come automatically. And believe me, this works - always. Hell, even if you won't get any attention you will be able to force their DPS out of fight or kill him, resulting in win most of the time.
Once you take down enemy carry or force him to run away you should go for the most dangerous champions left on the battlefield. If you have ghost manually order him to attack the same target. Most champions will be shred into pieces if focused by both ghost and you.

But there is always possibility that either you or your teammates fail and you should be prepared as well.
Mordekaiser is a pretty valuable champion, especially if fed, and can defend towers by himself quite well. That's why you shouldn't play like Shen - trying to save everyone around. If you get a chance to help and you think it's worth taking the risk do it. Also dying for 3-4 teammates is perfectly fine as long as they manage to escape. So always think clearly and make proper decisions.
So how exactly can Mordekaiser save someone? First of all try to cast your W on running ally, this bit of Armor and MR might be enough to save him and 80 DPS will help to repel attacking enemies as well. Moreover you should try and damage the most squishy champion you can get to. You will be amazed how many times threat of dying ally will force your enemies to abandon their chase and focus you. If you are lucky you will manage to run away with Ghost or get a kill but even if not, you just saved your allies and maybe withholded an inevitable deafeat.

  • Masteries and Runes for AP Mordekaiser

    External Image
For AP Mordekaiser we go deep into Utility branch for Improved Ghost, more MS, CDR and Summoner Abilities CDR. With this Masteries you will be able to use your Ulti + Ignite combo more often and you shouldn't have that much trouble with chasing and poking which are our weak spots.
We also put 9 points in Offensive branch for CDR and Magic Penetration.

    Greater Mark of Insight
No discussion here. Magic Penetration will help you a lot since 95% of your damage comes from your spells. And it also makes harassing in lane so much easier.

    Greater Seal of Shielding
Yes I said that flat MR helps more in the laning phase. But since Greater Seal of Warding and Greater Seal of Shielding get equal about level 7 it's just not as good choice to get flat MR as it is with Glyphs.

    Greater Glyph of Focus
Mordekaiser is a spell spammer. CDR runes will allow you to deal more damage due to your spells being available more often. Good choice for more advanced Mordekaisers.

  • Items for AP Mordekaiser

    Start with:

    Doran's Shield
You don't have Defensive Masteries so don't fool around with Regrowth Pendant. Additionally you won't be rushing defensive items like Tank Mordekaiser does, so Doran's Shield will be quite useful.

    Sorcerer's Shoes
    Ionian Boots of Lucidity

    Rylai's Crystal Scepter
    Abyssal Scepter
    Situational core:

    Hextech Revolver
    Haunting Guise
You should get this items in pretty much every game. Your core will give you decent amount of AP, HP and MR. It will also grant you 40 Magic Penetration which is enough to get full damage on squishy champions with your spells. And Magic Penetration > AP for Mordekaiser, your ratios are not high enough to justify going pure AP.
If you prefer 15% CDR rather than 20 Magic Penetration CDR boots are also viable choice.
For this who have problems with managing their HP Hextech Revolver is the way to go.
Also if most of your opponents are stacking about 70-80 MR by mid-game you can get Haunting Guise to negate it.
While this might not be the cheapest Core, Mordekaiser is an excellent farmer (one of the best, if not the best) and generally has no problem getting this.

    "Need... Moar... AP!"
    Deathfire Grasp
O rly? Yes, really. This item has a lot of synergy with your ultimate and your build which focuses on Magic Penetration. You jump in, cast DFG > R > E and watch your target being nearly dead. Assuming that you have enough Magic Penetration and 200 AP you should instantly deal 37%+21%=58% of target's max HP with DFG and your ultimate. Pretty brutal, isn't it?
    Lich Bane
Lich Bane is a great item to get after your core. You will be spamming your spells so it will proc a lot. It also has great synergy with Mace of Spades and adds bunch of useful stats (except mana).
    Zhonya's Hourglass
AP Mordekaiser loves this item. 100 AP, 50 Armor and 2 seconds of sweet invulnerability? Awesome thing for melee caster like you.
    Rabadon's Deathcap
This item is just pure overkill in terms of AP. 155 AP and 30% increase? Get this as your last item and watch your AP skyrocket over the roof.
    Will of the Ancients
If you made a Hextech Revolver, Will of the Ancients is a natural upgrade and with pretty good AP and Spellvamp it provides I don't see a reason not to get it.
    Void Staff
This item has no synergy with our flat Magic Penetration but might be needed if your opponents have more than 120-150 MR. You should sell Haunting Guise and get this instead so you won't waste item slot.

"But you know, I really need that Armor..."
    Sunfire Cape
Neither our Core nor Extension items give us enough Armor to survive heavy focus from enemy DPS. Sunfire Cape gives us even more HP, Armor and 40 magic AoE damage that has very good synergy with Creeping Death and our Magic Penetration build.

    "WTB Magic Resistance!"
    Banshee's Veil
Abyssal Scepter and Lich Bane should give enough MR to save you from being nuked to the death but if you don't like Lich Bane or simply need Spell Shield then you can grab it.

    "I'm dying way too much!"
    Guardian Angel
This item is actually better on AP Mordekaiser than it is for Tank build because our damage output is much higher and we are more squishy and thus have a "big target" written above our head. It also gives both Armor and MR making it the best "last slot" defensive item we can get. Did I mention that if we get killed and GA Passive is ready our Ghost companion will not die?

  • AP Mordekaiser: what to do and how to do

Your role as AP Mordekaiser is whole different than one of Tank Mordekaiser. While your ultimate goal of killing enemy carry remains the same, means to achieve this are completely different. There are basically two situations that might occur:
    1. You are doing well or your enemies don't have damage to bring you down fast enough.
    2. You are not doing very well or your enemies have enough damage to bring you down very fast.

In first situation you should engage after battle is initiated and just knock down most dangerous DPS your opponents have. Don't be afraid to go toe to toe with enemy champions - you are not fragile nuker like Veigar or Annie. Cast Creeping Death on yourself and make good use of all your spells. Time your ultimate so it won't be countered with healing or damage mitgation spells. In this kind of situation I strongly adivse to buy Lich Bane since you will use full potential of this item increasing your single target sustained damage a lot.

In second case you should wait outside the heat of battle untill your opponents use their most dangerous spells. Wait for right moment to engage and nuke enemy DPS with your Ultimate, Ignite and maybe Siphon if you can. It doesn't have to be their main carry - it's better to get hybrid Twisted Fate rather than die trying to take down overfed Ashe. In this kind of situation I strongly advise to buy DFG. It will let you do more burst damage without putting yourself in risk due to high range of your DFG > Ultimate > Ignite combo.

I must say that with AP Mordekaiser "ghosting" enemy DPS is much easier due to his bursty nature but after that you can't act with as much freedom as tank Mordekaiser. Use your pet to do as much damage as possible and take care not to overextend since you don't have survivability of real tank.

  • Farming

As I already mentioned Mordekaiser is a very strong pusher and thus a good farmer. After level 7 he can easily clear full wave in just few seconds. You should make the most of it and jump between lanes consistently once the laning phase is over. If the game is going well for you feel free to go deeper into enemy territory - you will kill minions so fast they wont't have time to react properly. But don't overextend: once you get the minions gtfo and if there are many misses don't even try doing it.

Remember not to steal minions from your allies. It's like shooting yourself in nuts - neither it's nice nor smart. If you see your carry farming don't interrupt. It won't hurt you if you don't get this 100 gold.

If you need more gold you can always go to the jungle. Once you hit level 7 you can do it fast and safely. There is also a useful tactic if you are mid: after level 3 you can try to push enemy to his tower and then clear the Wraith camp for easy gold and experience. Repeat this whenever you can and you will soon find yourself being level higher than your opponent. But again, don't do it if you have a jungler - you remember what I said about shooting yourself in nuts? Ok? Good.

  • Dealing with problematic enemies

IMPORTANT NOTE: this section is not finished yet but I decided my guide has enough content to publish it. Don't worry, I'll try to finish this as soon as possible.

    External Image
Anivia is one of this champions that will give you really hard time in lane if you don't stay focused. Don't ever stand in one place unless you are ready to juke her into wasting mana on her Q. It's important not to become predictable or she will ruin you with her Q > E combo. Once she hits level 6 don't even try to melee the minions and just last hit with your E because you really can't do anything about her R > E > W > Q combo which is just ridiculously easy to perform and very deadly.

    External Image
There are two types of Annies: one who will waste all mana trying to harass you with Q and one that will play safely last hitting minions with already mentioned spell. Don't be fooled - the first one is not even a threat to you and once you hit level 5 you will surely gain lane dominance. Second type of Annie however is much more more dangerous to face. She will conserve her mana and start harassing you at about level 5. What she wants to do is to down you to about 50% HP and then burst you with Tibbers-stun. Don't overextend against her and either blue pill or heal with your ultimate if she drops you too low.

    External Image
Ashe might not be the most dangerous opponent to face but definitely is annoying. Smart one will stand out of your range and poke you with autoattacks and Volley whenever she can. Try to always have some shield on you and hide behind your minions to reduce her damage. Be extra careful once she hits level 6. Her stun is very nasty and might set up a gank easily.

    External Image
Caitlyn, just like Ashe, is not a very big threat to you but with her insanely long range she will simply poke you to the death if you let her. Try to maintain your shield and stay behind your minions so that they will aggro if she attacks you. Also make sure to avoid her Q. It has one second casting delay so it's easy to dodge but if you eat a frontal hit it won't be good for you. Her ulti is pretty weak early game but might be enough to finish you off if you get too low on health.

    External Image
Garen, despite being melee, is a very annoying opponent to play against. With MS boost on his Q he will Judge the shit out of you if you won't pay attention. Your shield won't help much against it due to high base damage of this skill. Try to maintain distance and harass him whenever you can. Once he gets too low he will sit in bushes trying to regenerate - don't let him to do this! This is your opportunity to dominate the lane so just try to hit him with your E while he hides. Just remember: DON'T FACECHECK THE BUSHES, ok?

    External Image
Laning against Herperderper might be a real pain in the ass. He is ranged so he can maintain distance, he has 2 poking abilities and turrets which will focus you if you try to hit him. Does this mean that Mordekaiser is screwed? Not really. Yes, he is ranged but his attacks are weak. Yes, he has 2 poking abilities but both can be countered by reflex, staying behind your minions and maintaining about 30-40% of shield all the time. And finally, yes, he has turrets but you make sure that you hit them with your Siphon every time you last hit minions with it and they will eventually drop.
Also remember that he might have max 2 strong abilities pre level 6. If he decides to level up all 3 they will be just too weak to hurt you.

    External Image
Playing against Karthus requires somewhat similar strategy as against Anivia - keep moving! Don't come too close unless you have a lot of shield and try to dodge his Q whenever you can. Without boots it's not exactly the easiest thing to do but do your best. Don't go toe to toe against him as he will probably outdamage you and escaping Karthus is almost impossible due to his Wall and ultimate. If you have the upper hand you can try to kill him as he is very squishy but remember that he might also kill you from beyond the grave so calculate the risks properly.

    External Image
Despite her nerfs Le Blanc is still a strong laner able to do respectable amount of burst damage. She might not be very threatening early when all you have to do is to maintain about 30-50% of your shield most of the time to discourage her from harassing you. However once she hits level 6 be careful as some ridiculous burst might be coming your way. How to prevent it? You can't do it. She has a dash-and-back ability so she might even turret dive you if you get too low. If you feel that she might kill you immediately blue pill or ulti her to regain heath.

    External Image
Pre level 6 Malzahar is not a very hard opponent to handle for two main reasons:
    1. Two of his abilities are ground AoE. Q has a delay and E deals low damage unless you stand in it like an idiot. This means you can easily dodge them rendering Malzahar unable to harass effectively with just his W.
    2. He pushes the lane pretty fast which means that you can do it as well with no fear of getting too close to his tower. Mordekaiser that pushes a lane = Mordekaiser with loads of shield = impossible to harass, right?
This changes when he hits level 6 because with ultimate he can combo to deal some brutal damage and since it stuns you wont't be able to avoid his crap. Always maintain shield and don't let your HP drop too low.

    External Image
Miss Fortune is just another Ashe. To counter her you need to stay behind your minions and keep some shield up. Her Double Up is annoying but with proper angle you can avoid being hit. Even after level 6 her burst isn't very high so you shouldn't have a lot of problems with her.

    External Image
Say hello to yourself. Laning against Mordekaiser is a pain in the ass - even for another Mordekaiser.
So how exactly can we beat this guy? Try to always hit him before he does - your spells will hurt him while his will only scratch your shield. If you both maintain shields well then there is just no way to win this lane. Two Mordekaisers will just push each other and wait for opponent's mistake to gain advantage.

    External Image

Laning against Nidalee is really boring. You can't harass her effectively - she will heal. You can't outzone her - she will counter hit you and then heal. You are very unlikely to kill her with your combo - she will heal and jump away with her cougar form.
There is one good thing about it tho: she can't kill you as well. At least before level 6. Why is that? She lacks burst damage to break the shield. After level 6 however she deals much more damage and is hard to escape so don't let your HP drop too low.
