You all know the problem. An intense team fight breaks out, but you can’t find your cursor on the screen fast enough to give your champion the attack command, thereby losing the game-deciding fight. Bye bye rating. Well, there’s a solution for that and it’s called custom cursors. You might have scoured the internet for a way to change your cursor in League of Legends and haven’t found one (that’s what I did). After some investigation, I found the answer and here it is.
To be able to complete this guide, you will need the following things:-An installation of League of Legends-Resource Hacker (http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/reshack_setup.exe)-One or more .cur files (cursor files) The program Resource Hacker (shortened to reshack in the rest of the guide) will be used to exchange the original cursor files with your custom ones. The .cur files can be downloaded from several cursor websites or you can make them yourself. If you download cursor files, make sure they are NOT animated ones (.ani), but static ones (.cur).
Working with ResHack
To start with, download resource hacker from here (http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/reshack_setup.exe). I did not make this program nor do I take any credit for its creation. Install it anywhere on your hard drive and boot up the program. Before opening any files with reshack, make sure you closed all League of Legends related programs like LoLreplay, LoLlauncher and LoL itself. Once you’ve done that, click on File → Open. A browsing window will appear. Browse to your League of Legends folder. Use the following path:...\League of Legends\RADS\solutions\lol_game_client_sln\releases\X.X.X.XX\deploy where X.X.X.XX is the highest number you can find in the folder (for me, this was 0.0.0.89) and open the League of Legends.exe.WARNING: It is highly recommended to back up any files you modify. For instance, copy your ‘League of Legends.exe’ to the same folder and rename it ‘League of Legends.exe.bak’.Ok, now for the replacing itself. Click on Action → Replace Cursor … Here you can select any cursor from the game and replace it. Simply select the cursor you want to change, then click ‘Select file with new cursor…’ and choose your new cursor in the browsing menu. Then click ‘Replace’.Repeat this process until you have changed all the cursors you want to change. Finally, go to File → Save to save all your changes. It might automatically create another backup of your .exe file. Nothing to worry about.
When you try to start your League of Legends launcher. It might give a warning that files have been changed and might cause damage when uninstalled (something like that). Just click OK and let it ‘repair’. This shouldn’t take long. After that’s done, log into your account and start playing!
Unfortunately, because of the frequent patching Riot does (which is good), this entire process will have to be repeated after most patches. It’s a minor nuisance, but it doesn’t take too long if you’re using the same custom cursors as last time.
