  • What is ARAM?+Introduction

In this guide I'll be explaining a new game mode(ARAM if you missed something), which becomes more and more popular in the last time. Many players don't exactly know how to play this game mode, and that's why I decided to explain this right here.ARAM is an abbreviation, which means "all random all mid".As the name already says, every player will play on the middle lane and every player gets random Champions to play as.There are several other rules, without them no ARAM-gameplay would be possible, but more on that later.

I play ARAM now like about half a year, and I still see trollers, who don't care about the rules.
This is not as annoying to me as to many other players, but still it can destroy a 30 minute ARAM game.So now I think its time to publish an ARAM-guide, to make this mode more popular, and accepted as an own game mode.

The outcome of the game depends on the Champions your team gets and yours/the others' experience and skills with the Champion you/they got and your/their experience on ARAM,but also on very little factors, that can have a lost teamfight as effect, like focusing the tank instead of Soraka, etc, which also means, that a single bad/unexperienced player can ruin the whole match, and by saying "the whole match" I mean the whole match.Once any player gets ~4 kills, that player can start snowballing incredibly fast and kick your a.. and surprise you with 500 crits, while you deal 50 dmg per hit ,although you didn't give a single kill to that player. The outcome of the game depends on the Champions your team gets and yours/the others' experience and skills with the Champion you/they got and your/their experience on ARAM,but also on very little factors, that can have a lost teamfight as effect, like focusing the tank instead of Soraka, etc.

Whatever, let's start off with the rules.

  • Rules

ARAM has quite a few rules you'll have to follow, if you're no troll and if you want to play succesfully. Many new rules have been added from time to time, of which I find some to be senseless, but others really necessary.ARAM is nearly all of the time played on Summoners Rift (I didn't see any TT Aram...how could I? It only has top and bottom lane lol).

    Normal Rules:

    -All Champions are chosen randomly
-You can't pick Fortify as your summoner spell.
-All Champions have to go on the middle lane
-Every player is neither allowed to farm in the jungle, nor stand close to top or bot lane,
-Nobody is allowed to enter the brush
-You can neither go back to spawn, nor recall to spawn
-resulting in the only way you can buy items is that you die by an enemy player
-You are not allowed to buy things once you entered the middle lane/got exp in middle lane
    -Guardian Angle cannot be bought
-No Snowball Items (Snowball Items are Items that give you stacks when you get a kill or assist.Mejai's, Leviathan and Sword of Occult are all)

Some other rules, that often are mentioned:

-You're not allowed to dodge in Champion selection
-Some people like to play this on Draft Mode to make this gamemode more competitve
-Some people also forbide Teleport and Revive as summoner spells(No I do not understand why.)
-Some people say you are only allowed to take Heal & Clarity as Summoner Spells (which is trash as I think,Shen doesn't need Clarity)
-You are neither allowed to kill wraiths with ranged skillshot abilities, nor use global ults like Gankplank's or Ezreal's ult to farm at other lanes
-You're not allowed to suicide(Suiciding is dying without giving the enemy team a kill. This can happen if you let the turret attack you, or sometimes minions.I don't like this rule either, but it has its sense.)
-You cannot get to spawn by using global ults(e.g.TF,Pantheon)

    (I hope I didn't forget any.)

Breaking any of these rules results into either selling the item you aren't allowed to buy immediately(Recalling is ok then),giving the enemy team a kill,if you survived due to escape through a bush, or lots of flaming ,if you farm where you aren't allowed to or if you don't accept the punishment. If you are not willing to follow these rules, you shouldn't play ARAM,and not read this guide. You'll only piss your team or the enemy team off.Let's hope you are here to see how to play ARAM, not how to break its rules.Else, gtfo my guide, you are wasting my time(,which doesn't mean I don't like you, I really do :) ).

  • Tactics and Playstyle

ARAM has a different playstyle to other gamemodes, because all of the team is mid all the time. That means all the game is a teamfight, including farming and harrassing.Players, who are new to ARAM, don't recognise this, which is a big mistake and usually results into a kill for the enemy team. But you, the clever Guy, who read gehtdichnichtsan's guide, know, that you can't run in immediately once Cho Gath took 100 damage! You're SMART, aren't you? ...No?..oh...Ok. Whatever.I'm here to tell you how to be smart, so this shouldn't be too bad!

Well, actually every Champion has a different role in an ARAM game.First of all, you should look at your abilities and your auto attacks.Let's take to Champions. One of them is viable for ARAM, one is not very good.

    Champion number one: Udyr
    Champion number two: Morgana

    Abilities & Attacks________________________________________________Points:

    Auto attacks :

    +Meele-Harassing with meele attacks not/barely possible_________________(-1)

    +Turtle Stance-Provides sustainability_________________________________(+1)
    +Bear Stance-Can initiate teamfights well,IF enemie is overextending________(+0.5)
    +Phoenix Stance-good aoe dmg,but rarely usable;neutral_________________(+/-0)

    _______________________________________________________________-1.5->Bad, but could be worse.

    Abilities & Attacks________________________________________________Points:

    +Ranged attacks, not building AD____________________________________(+0.5)

    +Soul Siphon-Amazing sustainability__________________________________(+1)

    +Soul Shackles-Awesome teamfight CC________________________________(+2)

    _______________________________________________________________+6->Superb,no useless ability

You have to customize your playstyle to the Champions job in the match, then you will have alot of success in ARAM.For these two Champions it'd be:

Udyr:Get aura items to improve the viability of the other Champions in your team, since you can't do that much.
Go tanky build and get some movement speed to get in the enemy range.

Morgana:You need Ability power and some Health, because of your ultimate.Usually you should be dominating with this Character(if you know how to play her and know how to play ARAM ofc.).

Well, yeah that's it.This is basically how you find out how good your Champion is for ARAM.Ranged and Support Abilites improve the viability alot. For sure in the beginning you will have alot of problems with that gamemode, but you will get better with the time.Don't give up!You can improve your chances to get good Champions by buying good ones :).I already thought about creating an ARAM account in which I do this, but that's to much work for me:(.
Still, if you can't decide on what Champion to buy, take the one that's better for ARAM.

    Xin Zhao:

  • Early game

Early game is all about harrasing, and lasthitting.Sadly, many people don't realize, that cs are very important in ARAM and that a good farm can make you a raping machine mid and endgame.Healimg amd sustainability are also very important factors.Usually you get summoner spells Heal and Clarity and one of your teammates gets a mana manipulator. This provides you the needed sustainability , as long as you don't waste your mp whenever any skill is off cooldown. Some characters don't need Clarity(let it be shen or twisted fate, who can pick blue card to regain mp) or need other summoner spells to be succesful. Then go ahead and leave Clarity out.

Whatever, Harrasing and farming are the main points of early game,I think you got what I mean.
That's why supports are sp good in ARAM.They keep the enemy team from harrasing you. This can give you early game lane domination and allow you to harras and lasthit as much as you want to, but there will not always be a supporter to save you.You will be outharrased if the enemy team has one.
If there is no supporter at all, harrasing is the most important fact.So try your best to keep their Health low.

  • Mid game and early teamfights

Now you should have died 1+ time/s and got your first item.Teamfights start to come up very quickly now.Focus the supporter or the one who deals most damage. If somebody on the enemy team is legendary and he hasn't died yet, which means he has not bought any good items yet,do not kill him.Yeah 1k extra gold sounds fantastic, but the legendary killer will have about 3k gold.As lomg as you don't kill him, he can't go back and buy stuff, which will make his money useless. So let him run away.

Once a teamfight is won, push as far as possible to get towers for the extra gold and to get closer to inhibitor.Once 3 or more Champions with full Health show up, leave the tower, if it's not super-low.
Teamfights at enemy towers should be avoided.

  • Late game

Harrasing is not important anymore, only support and teamfight-viability.Now the tide of the battle can turn incredibly fast, because every team starts to get full item builds, which means, that a good early game has no importance anymore. You play Nasus or Tryndamere or Veigar or any different good late gamer?Good for you!You will probably win!But care:One lost teamfight will result in at least 2 lost towers, if not in a lost match.Don't try to kill anybody alone,if all the enemy team is up,always be with your team.If you die, a teamfight that may come up will be a 4v5,or rather a lost one.So being to greedy at once might make your team lose.

    That's it.
